Ingredients
Scale
- 8 slices thick bread like brioche or challah
- 8 oz cream cheese, softened
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 large egg
- 1/2 cup milk (whole or 2 percent)

- Powdered sugar, for dusting
Instructions
- Beat the softened cream cheese with the granulated sugar and vanilla extract until smooth.
- Spread half of the cream cheese mixture onto one side of four slices of bread and top each with another slice. Press edges to seal.
- In a shallow dish, whisk the egg, milk, cinnamon, and nutmeg together.
- Dip each stuffed sandwich into the batter, coating both sides.
- Melt butter in a skillet over medium heat, and cook the stuffed French toast for 3-4 minutes per side until golden brown.
- Cut each piece in half diagonally, serve warm topped with mixed berries and powdered sugar.
Notes
Use day-old bread to prevent sogginess; optionally add cocoa powder or mini chocolate chips for a richer flavor.
