Description

A creative twist on classic apple fritters, this fluffy focaccia is topped with spiced apples and finished with a sweet glaze.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup warm water
  • 1 packet (2 1/4 tsp) active dry yeast
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 apple, diced
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 tablespoon milk (for glaze)

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, combine warm water, yeast, and sugar; let it sit for about 5 minutes until frothy.
  2. In another bowl, mix flour and salt. Add the yeast mixture and olive oil, mixing until a dough forms.
  3. Knead the dough for about 5 minutes, then let it rise in a warm place for 1 hour, covered.
  4. Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C).
  5. After rising, punch down the dough and spread it on a greased baking sheet.
  6. In a bowl, mix diced apple with cinnamon and brown sugar, then spread over the dough.
  7. Bake for 20-25 minutes until golden.
  8. For the glaze, mix powdered sugar with milk until smooth; drizzle over the warm focaccia.
  9. Let cool slightly before serving.

Notes

Ensure your water is warm (not hot) to activate the yeast properly. Kneading is crucial for developing gluten.
