Description
A creative twist on classic apple fritters, this fluffy focaccia is topped with spiced apples and finished with a sweet glaze.
Ingredients
Scale
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 cup warm water
- 1 packet (2 1/4 tsp) active dry yeast
- 1 tablespoon sugar
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 apple, diced
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1/4 cup brown sugar
- 1/4 cup powdered sugar
- 1 tablespoon milk (for glaze)
Instructions
- In a bowl, combine warm water, yeast, and sugar; let it sit for about 5 minutes until frothy.
- In another bowl, mix flour and salt. Add the yeast mixture and olive oil, mixing until a dough forms.
- Knead the dough for about 5 minutes, then let it rise in a warm place for 1 hour, covered.
- Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C).
- After rising, punch down the dough and spread it on a greased baking sheet.
- In a bowl, mix diced apple with cinnamon and brown sugar, then spread over the dough.
- Bake for 20-25 minutes until golden.
- For the glaze, mix powdered sugar with milk until smooth; drizzle over the warm focaccia.
- Let cool slightly before serving.
Notes
Ensure your water is warm (not hot) to activate the yeast properly. Kneading is crucial for developing gluten.
