- 4 ripe bananas
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter
- 1 cup brown sugar
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1 box yellow cake mix
- 3 eggs
- 1 cup water
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/2 cup chopped pecans (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
- In a saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat. Stir in brown sugar and cinnamon until dissolved.
- Pour the butter-sugar mixture into the prepared baking dish.
- Slice the bananas and arrange them over the sugar mixture. Optional: sprinkle with pecans.
- In a mixing bowl, combine the cake mix, eggs, water, and vanilla extract. Mix until well combined.
- Pour the cake batter over the bananas in the baking dish.
- Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
- Allow to cool for a few minutes before inverting onto a serving plate.
Notes
Serve warm, optionally with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream. Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 3 days at room temperature, or refrigerate for up to a week.
