Description

Ingredients

  • 2 1/4 teaspoons active dry yeast
  • 1/2 cup whole milk
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1/3 cup unsalted butter (brown butter, melted)
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 3 large eggs
  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar
  • 2 tablespoons milk (for icing)

Instructions

  1. In a small bowl, dissolve the yeast in warm milk and let it sit for 5-10 minutes until frothy.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine the brown sugar, melted brown butter, salt, and eggs. Gradually stir in the yeast mixture until thoroughly mixed.
  3. Add the flour one cup at a time until a soft dough begins to form.
  4. Transfer the dough to a floured surface and knead for about 5 minutes.
  5. Place the kneaded dough in a greased bowl, cover it, and let it rise until it has doubled in size, about 1 hour.
  6. After the dough has risen, roll it out into a large rectangle. Spread a generous layer of browned butter on top, and sprinkle cinnamon and granulated sugar evenly.
  7. Starting at one edge, roll the dough tightly into a log shape. Cut the log into equal pieces and place them in a greased baking dish.
  8. Cover the cut rolls and let them rise again for about 30 minutes.
  9. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and bake the rolls for 20-25 minutes until golden brown.
  10. Mix powdered sugar with milk to create a smooth icing and drizzle over the warm rolls before serving.
