Description

Ingredients

  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup cornstarch
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 2 cups milk
  • 1/4 cup butter
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 3 large egg yolks
  • 1 pre-baked pie crust
  • Whipped cream (for topping)

Instructions

  1. Combine dry ingredients in a saucepan: brown sugar, cornstarch, and salt.
  2. Add milk gradually, cooking over medium heat until thickened.
  3. Remove from heat and stir in butter and vanilla extract.
  4. Whisk egg yolks in a separate bowl and temper with warm mixture.
  5. Cook for an additional 2 minutes then pour into pre-baked pie crust.
  6. Let it cool before refrigerating until set.
  7. Serve it topped with whipped cream.
