Ingredients

- 1 whole chicken
- 4 cups chicken broth
- 1 cup milk
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tablespoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 cup butter
- 1/2 cup chopped onions
- 1 cup chopped carrots
- 1 cup chopped celery
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- In a large pot, place the whole chicken and cover it with chicken broth. Bring it to a boil, then reduce the heat to a simmer. Cook for 30-40 minutes, remove the chicken and shred the meat.
- In the same pot, add chopped onions, carrots, and celery. Cook until tender.
- In a bowl, combine flour, baking powder, and salt. Cut in the butter until resembling coarse crumbs. Stir in milk until just combined to form a dough.
- Return shredded chicken to the pot and mix with vegetables. Season with salt and pepper.
- Drop spoonfuls of dumpling dough onto the chicken mixture. Cover and cook for 15 minutes without lifting the lid.
- Serve warm, allowing family and friends to enjoy.
Notes
Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to three days. Adding a splash of chicken broth helps when reheating.
