Description
A delightful medley of tender chicken, savory ham, and creamy Swiss cheese, baked until golden brown, perfect for family gatherings.
Ingredients
Scale
- 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
- 4 slices of ham
- 4 slices of Swiss cheese
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 2 eggs, beaten
- 1 cup breadcrumbs
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon pepper
- 1/2 teaspoon paprika
- 4 tablespoons butter
- 1/4 cup chicken broth (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Place each chicken breast between two pieces of plastic wrap and pound to about 1/4 inch thickness.
- Layer each breast with a slice of ham and a slice of Swiss cheese. Fold the chicken over to encase the filling and secure with toothpicks.
- Set up a breading station: one plate with flour, one plate with beaten eggs, and one plate with breadcrumbs mixed with salt, pepper, and paprika.
- Dredge each chicken roll in flour, dip in egg, and coat with breadcrumbs.
- Heat butter in a skillet over medium heat. Add the chicken and cook until golden brown on all sides, about 4-5 minutes.
- Transfer to a baking dish and pour in chicken broth if using. Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until the chicken is cooked through and perfectly tender.
- Remove toothpicks, slice, and serve.
Notes
For extra flavor, consider adding herbs like thyme or rosemary to breadcrumbs. If short on time, skipping the pounding step is fine; just adjust cooking time slightly. Use a meat thermometer to ensure the chicken is perfectly cooked.
