Description

A comforting and flavorful pasta dish featuring pappardelle, Italian sausage, and a creamy Calabrian chili sauce.


Ingredients

  • 8 oz pappardelle pasta
  • 2 tbsp Calabrian chili paste
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 8 oz Italian sausage
  • 1 fennel bulb, sliced
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/2 cup Parmesan cheese, grated
  • Salt, to taste
  • Black pepper, to taste
  • Fresh parsley, for garnish

Instructions

  1. Cook the pappardelle pasta according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.
  2. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add chopped garlic and sliced fennel, and sauté until softened.
  3. Add the Italian sausage to the skillet, breaking it apart and cooking until browned.
  4. Stir in Calabrian chili paste and heavy cream, allowing the sauce to simmer and thicken.
  5. Add the cooked pappardelle to the skillet, tossing to coat the noodles in the creamy sauce.
  6. Season with salt and black pepper to taste.
  7. Serve hot, garnished with grated Parmesan cheese and fresh parsley.

Notes

For a lighter version, substitute Italian sausage with turkey or chicken sausage. Can also use whole wheat pappardelle for added fiber.
