Description

A luxurious and comforting seafood bisque made with crab and shrimp in a creamy broth.


Ingredients

Scale
  • 1/2 lb shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 1/2 lb lump crab meat
  • 4 tbsp butter
  • 1 small onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 3 cups seafood or chicken broth
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1/2 cup white wine (optional)
  • 1 tsp Old Bay seasoning
  • 1/2 tsp paprika
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Fresh parsley for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Sauté the onion and garlic in a large pot with melted butter over medium heat until translucent, about 3-4 minutes.
  2. Create the roux by sprinkling in the flour and cooking for another 2-3 minutes until light golden.
  3. Add the seafood or chicken broth and optional white wine, bringing to a gentle simmer.
  4. Season with Old Bay seasoning, paprika, salt, and pepper, letting it simmer for about 10 minutes.
  5. Incorporate heavy cream and simmer for another 5-7 minutes until thick and creamy.
  6. Add the shrimp and crab meat, cooking until the shrimp turns pink, about 5 minutes.
  7. Garnish and serve in bowls with fresh parsley if desired.

Notes

Serve with crusty bread or a light salad. Pairs beautifully with a chilled glass of white wine.
