Description

These Crispy Baked Okra Fries are a healthier take on a classic favorite, featuring a satisfying crunch and a blend of smoky and savory flavors.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound Fresh Okra
  • 1/2 cup All-Purpose Flour
  • 2 large Eggs
  • 1 1/2 cups Panko Breadcrumbs
  • 1 teaspoon Smoked Paprika
  • 1 teaspoon Garlic Powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon Onion Powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon Salt (or to taste)
  • 1/4 teaspoon Black Pepper (or to taste)
  • Olive Oil Spray or Cooking Spray

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Wash the okra pods under cool water and pat them thoroughly dry.
  3. Trim off the top stems and tips of the okra pods; slice larger pods in half lengthwise.
  4. Prepare three dishes for breading: flour mixed with salt and pepper, beaten eggs, and a mixture of panko with seasonings.
  5. Bread the okra by coating in flour, dipping in eggs, and pressing into the panko mixture.
  6. Arrange the breaded okra on the baking sheet in a single layer and avoid overcrowding.
  7. Spray the tops of the okra with olive oil spray and bake for 15-20 minutes until golden and crispy, flipping halfway through.
  8. Serve immediately with your favorite dipping sauce.

Notes

Ensure the okra is completely dried to prevent sliminess. Experiment with seasonings for added flavor.
