Description

A delightful French classic featuring toasted bread layered with ham, gooey cheese, and topped with a sunny-side-up egg.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 slices of bread
  • 4 slices of ham
  • 4 slices of cheese (Gruyère or Emmental)
  • 2 tablespoons of Dijon mustard
  • 2 tablespoons of butter
  • 2 eggs
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Fresh parsley for garnish

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. Spread Dijon mustard generously on one side of each slice of bread.
  3. Layer ham and cheese on two slices (mustard side up), then top with the remaining slices mustard side down, forming sandwiches.
  4. Heat butter in a skillet over medium heat, then grill the sandwiches until golden brown on both sides, about 3-4 minutes.
  5. Fry the eggs sunny side up in another pan.
  6. Transfer the grilled sandwiches to a baking sheet, top each with a fried egg, and bake for about 5 minutes until the cheese melts.
  7. Garnish with fresh parsley and serve.
