Description

Delightful and fluffy Danish Poppy Seed Rolls that bring the comforting taste of childhood memories.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1/4 cup butter, softened
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1 package active dry yeast
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup poppy seeds
  • 1 egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, combine warm milk and yeast. Allow it to sit for 5 minutes until frothy.
  2. Cream together the softened butter and sugar until fluffy. Add the egg and vanilla extract, mixing well.
  3. Pour the yeast mixture into the butter mixture and stir to combine. Gradually add the flour and salt, kneading until a smooth dough forms.
  4. Cover the dough with a damp cloth and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour.
  5. Roll the dough onto a floured surface and spread poppy seeds evenly over it. Roll it up tightly.
  6. Slice the rolled dough into equal pieces and place on a prepared baking sheet.
  7. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Bake the rolls for 15-20 minutes or until golden brown.
  8. Allow the rolls to cool before serving.
