Description

A comforting and creamy potato casserole enveloped in a blanket of melted cheese, perfect for family gatherings or cozy dinners.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 pounds potatoes, peeled and diced
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1/4 cup butter, melted
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 cup bread crumbs (optional, for topping)
  • Additional cheese for topping (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large pot of boiling salted water, cook the diced potatoes until tender, about 10-15 minutes. Drain and set aside.
  3. In a mixing bowl, combine the sour cream, shredded cheddar cheese, milk, melted butter, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper.
  4. Add the cooked potatoes to the cheesy mixture and gently fold until well combined.
  5. Transfer the mixture to a greased casserole dish, sprinkling with bread crumbs and additional cheese on top if desired.
  6. Bake in the preheated oven for about 25-30 minutes, or until the top is golden and bubbly.
  7. Let cool slightly before serving.

Notes

This casserole can be made a day ahead and stored in the refrigerator before baking. You may use sweet potatoes for a sweeter flavor or swap out the cheese for variations.
