Description

A colorful and refreshing dessert featuring layers of whipped cream, cream cheese, strawberries, and shortcake, perfect for Easter celebrations.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 pints fresh strawberries, hulled and sliced (about 8 cups)
  • 1216 ounces prepared shortcake, cut or torn into bite-sized pieces
  • 3 cups heavy cream, cold
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 8 ounces cream cheese, softened
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon lemon zest
  • Optional garnishes: fresh mint leaves, extra sliced strawberries, white chocolate shavings, or shortcake crumbs

Instructions

  1. Prepare the strawberries by washing, hulling, and slicing about 6 cups for layering. Reserve the rest for garnish.
  2. Make the whipped cream by beating heavy cream, powdered sugar, and vanilla in a large bowl until stiff peaks form.
  3. Prepare the cream cheese layer by combining softened cream cheese, granulated sugar, and lemon zest, then folding in about 1 cup of whipped cream.
  4. Assemble the trifle in a large bowl with a layer of shortcake pieces at the bottom.
  5. Add half of the sliced strawberries over the shortcake layer.
  6. Spread half of the cream cheese mixture over the strawberries.
  7. Top with half of the remaining whipped cream.
  8. Repeat the layering with the remaining ingredients: shortcake, strawberries, cream cheese mixture, and whipped cream.
  9. Garnish the top with reserved strawberries and optional decorations.
  10. Chill for at least 2-4 hours or overnight.
  11. Serve chilled and enjoy!
