- 2 large ripe bananas
- 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
- 2 tablespoons granulated sugar (or brown sugar)
- Optional: A pinch of cinnamon or nutmeg
- Optional: A tiny splash of vanilla extract
- Optional: A tiny pinch of salt
Instructions
- Slice the bananas into even rounds, about half an inch thick.
- Melt the butter in a non-stick skillet over medium heat until it foams and turns golden.
- Add the sugar to the melted butter, stirring to combine.
- Sauté the banana slices in a single layer, cooking for 2-3 minutes on each side.
- Sprinkle in the optional cinnamon or nutmeg if desired.
- Finish with a splash of vanilla extract off the heat.
- Serve the caramelized banana slices warm over pancakes or ice cream.
Notes
Best enjoyed fresh but can be stored in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 2 days.
