Description

A heartwarming casserole that combines savory ground beef with the sweetness of French onion soup and rice, baked to perfection.


Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 can (10.5 oz) French onion soup
  • 1 can (10.5 oz) beef consommé
  • 1 cup uncooked rice
  • 2 cups water
  • 1 cup shredded cheese (optional)
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Brown the ground beef in a large skillet over medium heat until fully cooked; drain excess fat.
  3. Add the French onion soup, beef consommé, rice, and water to the skillet, stirring to combine.
  4. Bring the mixture to a boil, then reduce heat to low and cover; let it simmer for 15 minutes.
  5. Transfer the mixture to a greased casserole dish, spreading it evenly.
  6. Add shredded cheese on top if desired.
  7. Cover the dish with aluminum foil and bake for 30 minutes.
  8. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 10-15 minutes until bubbly and golden.
  9. Cool slightly before serving.
