  • 1 pound Fresh Crab Meat (preferably Dungeness or blue crabs)
  • 1 loaf French Baguette, sliced into 1/2-inch slices
  • 1/2 cup Butter (unsalted)
  • 4 cloves Garlic, minced
  • 2 tablespoons Lemon Juice (freshly squeezed)
  • 2 tablespoons Parsley, finely chopped
  • 2 tablespoons Chives, finely chopped
  • Salt and Pepper, to taste
  • 2 tablespoons Olive Oil
  • 1/4 cup Grated Parmesan Cheese (optional)
  • 1 teaspoon Paprika (optional for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Steam the fresh crabs for about 10 minutes or until they turn vibrant red. Let them cool before extracting the meat.
  2. Melt the butter in a saucepan over medium heat, then add minced garlic and sauté until fragrant.
  3. Combine the crab meat, garlic butter, lemon juice, parsley, chives, and season with salt and pepper in a bowl.
  4. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  5. Brush sliced baguette with olive oil and arrange on a baking sheet.
  6. Toast the baguette slices in the oven for 5-7 minutes until golden brown.
  7. Spoon the crab mixture onto each toasted slice.
  8. Sprinkle grated Parmesan cheese on top (if using) and return to the oven.
  9. Bake for an additional 5 minutes until the cheese melts and flavors deepen.
  10. Garnish with paprika before serving hot.
