Description

A delightful and comforting German Apple Cake filled with sweet and tart apples, perfect for autumn gatherings.


Ingredients

  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 3 large eggs

  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 3 cups peeled and sliced apples
  • 1/2 cup chopped walnuts or pecans (optional)
  • Powdered sugar for dusting (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×13 inch baking pan.
  2. In a large bowl, combine the flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, salt, and cinnamon.
  3. In another bowl, whisk together the eggs, oil, vanilla extract, and milk until smooth.
  4. Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and mix until just combined, being careful not to overmix.
  5. Gently fold in the sliced apples and nuts (if using), ensuring they are evenly distributed throughout the batter.
  6. Pour the batter into the prepared baking pan and spread it evenly with a spatula.
  7. Bake for 45-55 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  8. Allow the cake to cool in the pan for about 10 minutes before transferring it to a wire rack. Dust with powdered sugar before serving, if desired.
