Description

A cheesy and comforting bread infused with the flavors of green chilies and garlic, perfect for snacking or serving as a side dish.


Ingredients

  • 1 loaf of bread (French or Italian)
  • 1 cup shredded cheese (cheddar or a mix)
  • 1/2 cup cream cheese, softened
  • 1/4 cup diced green chilies (canned or fresh)
  • 2 tablespoons chopped fresh cilantro (optional)
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Butter for spreading

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a bowl, combine softened cream cheese, shredded cheese, diced green chilies, cilantro, garlic powder, and a sprinkle of salt and pepper. Mix until well combined.
  3. Slice the loaf of bread in half lengthwise and spread butter on the cut sides.
  4. Spread the cheese mixture evenly over the buttered sides of the bread.
  5. Place the bread halves on a baking sheet and bake for 15-20 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly and the edges are golden brown.
  6. Let the bread cool slightly, then cut into pieces and serve while warm.

Notes

For extra crispiness, turn on the broiler for the last couple of minutes, but watch closely to prevent burning. You can customize the recipe with different types of cheese or add jalapeños for more spice.
