Description

Ingredients

  • 2 cups fresh or frozen cherries, pitted and chopped
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 egg (for egg wash)
  • Powdered sugar (for dusting, optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the Oven: Preheat to 400°F (200°C).
  2. Prepare the Puff Pastry: Roll out the puff pastry sheets on a floured surface and cut them into 4×4 inch squares.
  3. Mix the Cherry Filling: Combine cherries, sugar, cornstarch, and vanilla extract in a bowl.
  4. Fill the Pastries: Place a spoonful of filling in the center of each pastry square.
  5. Fold and Seal: Fold pastry over into a triangle and seal edges with a fork.
  6. Brush with Egg Wash: Brush the tops of each turnover with beaten egg.
  7. Bake Until Golden: Bake for 15-20 minutes until golden brown and puffy.
  8. Cool and Dust: Let cool slightly and dust with powdered sugar if desired.
