Description

A heartwarming dish of creamy layered potatoes baked to perfection with rich cheeses and garlic.


Ingredients

  • 4 large potatoes, thinly sliced
  • 2 cups heavy cream
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Fresh thyme or parsley for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a skillet, melt the butter over medium heat and add the minced garlic. Sauté for 1 minute until fragrant.
  3. In a mixing bowl, combine the heavy cream with salt and pepper.
  4. In a greased baking dish, layer half of the sliced potatoes.
  5. Pour half of the cream mixture over the potatoes, and then sprinkle half of both the cheddar and Parmesan cheeses.
  6. Repeat the layers with the remaining potatoes, cream, and cheese.
  7. Cover the dish with aluminum foil and bake for 45 minutes.
  8. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 15 minutes.
  9. Let it cool for a few minutes before serving and garnish with fresh thyme or parsley.

Notes

For a lighter version, substitute half of the heavy cream with milk. Let the dish rest for a few minutes to set before serving.
