- 4 large potatoes, thinly sliced
- 2 cups heavy cream
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- 1 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 tablespoons butter
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Fresh thyme or parsley for garnish (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- In a skillet, melt the butter over medium heat and add the minced garlic. Sauté for 1 minute until fragrant.
- In a mixing bowl, combine the heavy cream with salt and pepper.
- In a greased baking dish, layer half of the sliced potatoes.
- Pour half of the cream mixture over the potatoes, and then sprinkle half of both the cheddar and Parmesan cheeses.
- Repeat the layers with the remaining potatoes, cream, and cheese.
- Cover the dish with aluminum foil and bake for 45 minutes.
- Remove the foil and bake for an additional 15 minutes.
- Let it cool for a few minutes before serving and garnish with fresh thyme or parsley.
Notes
For a lighter version, substitute half of the heavy cream with milk. Let the dish rest for a few minutes to set before serving.
