Flaky, buttery puff pastries filled with a rich and creamy spinach and cheese mixture, perfect for appetizers or snacks.
Ingredients
- Frozen Puff Pastry (17.3 oz / 2 sheets), thawed
- Frozen Chopped Spinach (10 oz), thawed and drained
- Cream Cheese (4 oz), softened
- Feta Cheese (4 oz), crumbled
- Yellow Onion (1/2 medium), finely minced
- Garlic (2 cloves), minced
- Large Egg (1), beaten (reserve half for egg wash)
- Lemon Zest (1 teaspoon)
- Dried Dill (1/2 teaspoon)
- Black Pepper (1/4 teaspoon)
- Salt (to taste)
- Sesame or Poppy Seeds (optional, for topping)
Instructions
- Thaw and prepare spinach by squeezing out excess water.
- Sauté the minced onion in a skillet until translucent, then add garlic.
- Combine the drained spinach, sautéed vegetables, cream cheese, feta, lemon zest, dill, and half of the beaten egg in a bowl.
- Roll out puff pastry and cut into squares.
- Fill each pastry square with the spinach mixture.
- Seal pastries by folding over and crimping the edges with a fork.
- Brush tops with remaining beaten egg.
- Bake at 400°F (200°C) for 20-25 minutes until golden brown.
- Cool slightly on a wire rack before serving.
Notes
These pastries can be made ahead and frozen unbaked. Bake directly from the freezer.
