- 2 pounds chuck steak or round steak
- 1 can (15 oz) tomato sauce
- 1 large onion, sliced
- 1 bell pepper, sliced
- 1 cup beef broth
- 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
- 1/2 cup all-purpose flour (or cornstarch/gluten-free flour for gluten-free option)
- 1 teaspoon salt, divided
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper, divided
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
Instructions
- Pat the beef steaks dry and lightly coat both sides with flour seasoned with salt and pepper.
- Heat a skillet over medium-high heat and quickly sear the coated steaks until browned on both sides.
- Place the steaks at the bottom of the slow cooker. Top with sliced onions and bell peppers.
- Pour the tomato sauce, beef broth, and Worcestershire sauce over the top.
- Cover and cook on low for 6 to 8 hours or on high for 3 to 4 hours until the beef is fork-tender.
- Taste and adjust seasoning as needed, then let the dish rest uncovered for 10 minutes before serving.
Notes
Serve with mashed potatoes, rice, sautéed green beans, or a crisp salad. Leftovers can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
