A delightful homemade bread with a soft and fluffy texture, perfect for sandwiches and toasting.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 2 teaspoons salt
  • 2 1/4 teaspoons active dry yeast
  • 1 1/2 cups warm water (about 110°F)
  • 2 tablespoons butter (melted)

Instructions

  1. Dissolve the sugar and yeast in warm water; let it sit for about 5 minutes until bubbly.
  2. Combine 2 cups of flour, salt, and melted butter in a large mixing bowl. Add the yeast mixture and stir to combine.
  3. Add the remaining flour, 1 cup at a time, until a dough forms.
  4. Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 8-10 minutes until smooth.
  5. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.
  6. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  7. Punch down the dough and shape it into a loaf. Place it in a greased bread pan.
  8. Cover and let it rise again for about 30 minutes.

  10. Let cool before slicing.
