Ingredients

- 4 cups all-purpose flour
- 2 tablespoons sugar
- 2 teaspoons salt
- 2 1/4 teaspoons active dry yeast
- 1 1/2 cups warm water (about 110°F)
- 2 tablespoons butter (melted)
Instructions
- Dissolve the sugar and yeast in warm water; let it sit for about 5 minutes until bubbly.
- Combine 2 cups of flour, salt, and melted butter in a large mixing bowl. Add the yeast mixture and stir to combine.
- Add the remaining flour, 1 cup at a time, until a dough forms.
- Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 8-10 minutes until smooth.
- Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Punch down the dough and shape it into a loaf. Place it in a greased bread pan.
- Cover and let it rise again for about 30 minutes.
- Bake for 30-35 minutes until golden brown.
- Let cool before slicing.
Notes
Store in plastic wrap or aluminum foil at room temperature for a few days or freeze for longer storage.
