Description

A cozy Beef and Mushroom Pie featuring a flaky crust and rich filling, perfect for chilly evenings.


Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 8 oz mushrooms, sliced
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tsp thyme
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 package pie crusts
  • 1 egg (for egg wash)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. Brown the beef in a skillet over medium heat.
  3. Add the chopped onion, minced garlic, and sliced mushrooms.
  4. Sauté until the mushrooms are tender and the onions are translucent.
  5. Stir in the beef broth, Worcestershire sauce, thyme, salt, and pepper.
  6. Let the mixture simmer for 5-10 minutes.
  7. Roll out the pie crust and place one in the pie dish.
  8. Spoon the meat mixture into the pie crust.
  9. Cover with a second crust, crimping the edges to seal.
  10. Brush the top crust with a beaten egg.
  11. Bake for 30-35 minutes until golden brown.

Notes

Allow the pie to cool for about 10 minutes before slicing. It can be served with a salad or steamed vegetables.
