Description

Delightful light and fluffy Belgian waffles with a crispy exterior, perfect for breakfast, brunch, or dessert.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups All-purpose flour
  • 2 tablespoons Sugar
  • 2 teaspoons Baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon Salt
  • 2 large Eggs, separated
  • 1 3/4 cups Milk
  • 1/2 cup Butter, melted
  • 1 teaspoon Vanilla extract
  • Cooking spray
  • 1/2 cup Chocolate chips
  • 1/2 cup Blueberries
  • 1 teaspoon Cinnamon
  • 1 tablespoon Lemon zest
  • 2 tablespoons Cocoa powder (for chocolate waffles)

Instructions

  1. Whisk flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt in a large bowl.
  2. In a separate bowl, whisk egg yolks, milk, melted butter, and vanilla.
  3. Pour wet ingredients into dry ingredients and stir gently until just combined.
  4. Beat egg whites in a clean bowl until stiff peaks form. Gently fold whipped whites into the batter without deflating them.
  5. Preheat the Belgian waffle maker to medium-high. Spray with cooking spray when ready.
  6. Pour batter into the center of the waffle iron and close the lid. Cook for 3–4 minutes or until steam stops and the waffle is golden and crisp.
  7. Remove the waffle, serve hot, and add your favorite toppings. Keep finished waffles warm in a 200°F oven if needed.

Notes

Make sure waffle iron is well preheated for a crispy texture. Store leftovers in an airtight container.
