Description

Delicious homemade garlic knots that are warm, soft, and bursting with garlic flavor.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup warm water (about 110°F)
  • 2 1/4 teaspoons active dry yeast
  • 1 tablespoon honey
  • 3 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil
  • 1 1/4 teaspoons salt
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons garlic powder
  • 3 1/3 cups bread flour (plus 12 tablespoons if needed)
  • 6 tablespoons salted butter, melted
  • 4 garlic cloves, freshly minced
  • 1 teaspoon dried Italian seasoning
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/8 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes
  • 1/3 cup freshly grated parmesan cheese
  • 3 tablespoons fresh parsley, finely chopped

Instructions

  1. Combine the warm water, active dry yeast, and honey in a large bowl. Let sit for 5 minutes until foamy.
  2. Add olive oil, salt, and garlic powder. Mix in half the bread flour, then gradually add remaining flour while mixing for about 2 minutes until a shaggy mass forms.
  3. Knead the dough on a floured surface for 5 minutes until smooth and elastic, adding more flour if too sticky.
  4. Place the dough in an oiled bowl, cover, and let rise for about 2 hours until doubled in size.
  5. Prepare the garlic butter by combining melted butter, minced garlic, dried Italian seasoning, salt, and crushed red pepper flakes in a bowl.
  6. Line two baking sheets with parchment paper. Once risen, punch down the dough, divide into 16 pieces, and roll into 8-inch ropes, tying each into a knot.
  7. Arrange the knots on prepared baking sheets, cover, and let rest for 30-45 minutes until puffy.
  8. Preheat your oven to 400°F. Brush knots with half of the garlic butter mixture and bake for 20-23 minutes until golden brown.
  9. Remove from the oven and brush with the remaining garlic butter mixture, then sprinkle with parmesan cheese and parsley while still warm.

Notes

Best served warm, can be paired with marinara sauce for dipping.
