- 4 slices of thick-cut bacon
- 2 tablespoons of bourbon
- 1/4 cup of pure maple syrup
- 4 slices of hearty bread
- 2 large eggs
- 1 tablespoon of unsalted butter
- Freshly cracked black pepper
- Chopped chives or green onions for garnish
Instructions
- Cook the bacon in a large skillet over medium heat for about 6-8 minutes until crispy, turning occasionally.
- Remove the bacon and place it on a paper towel-lined plate to drain.
- Add bourbon and maple syrup to the same skillet, stirring to combine.
- Simmer the mixture on low heat for about 2-3 minutes until slightly thickened.
- Melt the butter in another skillet over medium heat.
- Toast the bread slices until golden brown on both sides, about 3-4 minutes per side.
- Crack the eggs into the skillet used for the bacon and cook them sunny-side up or to your desired doneness.
- Season with freshly cracked black pepper.
- Assemble the dish by placing the toasted bread on plates, layering with crispy bacon, drizzling the glaze, and topping with a cooked egg.
- Garnish with chopped chives or green onions.
Notes
Best served warm, pairs well with fresh fruit or coffee. Store leftovers separately in airtight containers.
