Description

A delightful breakfast combining crispy bacon with a sweet bourbon maple glaze and topped with a perfectly cooked egg.


Ingredients

  • 4 slices of thick-cut bacon
  • 2 tablespoons of bourbon
  • 1/4 cup of pure maple syrup
  • 4 slices of hearty bread
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 tablespoon of unsalted butter
  • Freshly cracked black pepper
  • Chopped chives or green onions for garnish

Instructions

  1. Cook the bacon in a large skillet over medium heat for about 6-8 minutes until crispy, turning occasionally.
  2. Remove the bacon and place it on a paper towel-lined plate to drain.
  3. Add bourbon and maple syrup to the same skillet, stirring to combine.
  4. Simmer the mixture on low heat for about 2-3 minutes until slightly thickened.
  5. Melt the butter in another skillet over medium heat.
  6. Toast the bread slices until golden brown on both sides, about 3-4 minutes per side.
  7. Crack the eggs into the skillet used for the bacon and cook them sunny-side up or to your desired doneness.
  8. Season with freshly cracked black pepper.
  9. Assemble the dish by placing the toasted bread on plates, layering with crispy bacon, drizzling the glaze, and topping with a cooked egg.
  10. Garnish with chopped chives or green onions.

Notes

Best served warm, pairs well with fresh fruit or coffee. Store leftovers separately in airtight containers.
