Ingredients

- 1 1/2 cups warm water
- 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
- 2 teaspoons kosher salt
- 1 packet active dry yeast (2 1/4 teaspoons)
- 4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 1/4 cup baking soda
- 1 large egg, beaten
- Coarse sea salt for topping
Instructions
- Combine warm water, sugar, and kosher salt in a bowl. Sprinkle the yeast on top and let it sit for about 5 minutes until foamy.
- Add flour and melted butter to the yeast mixture and mix until combined. Knead for about 5 minutes until smooth.
- Cover the dough and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour.
- Preheat the oven to 450°F (232°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Divide the dough into small pieces and roll each into a rope, then shape into bite-sized pretzel pieces.
- Bring 10 cups of water to a boil in a large pot, and add baking soda.
- Boil the pretzel bites for about 30 seconds, then remove and place on the baking sheet.
- Brush each pretzel bite with beaten egg and sprinkle with coarse sea salt.
- Bake for 12-15 minutes until golden brown.
- Let them cool slightly before serving.
Notes
Serve warm with mustard, cheese sauce, or your favorite dipping sauce. Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 2 days or freeze for up to 2 months.
