Ingredients

- 1 1/2 cups warm water
- 1 packet active dry yeast
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 cup baking soda
- 1 large egg
- Coarse sea salt for sprinkling
- 4 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
Instructions
- In a large bowl, combine warm water, yeast, and sugar. Let sit for 5 minutes until frothy.
- Add flour and salt to the yeast mixture; mix until a dough forms. Knead for 5 minutes until smooth.
- Let the dough rise in a warm place for about 60 minutes or until doubled in size.
- Preheat oven to 425°F (220°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a large pot, bring 10 cups of water and baking soda to a boil.
- Divide the dough into small pieces, roll into bites, and drop them into the boiling water for about 30 seconds.
- Remove with a slotted spoon and place on the baking sheet.
- Brush each pretzel bite with beaten egg and sprinkle with coarse sea salt.
- Bake for 12-15 minutes until golden brown.
- Brush with melted butter and serve warm.
Notes
Serve warm with dipping sauces like cheese, mustard, or chocolate. Store in an airtight container for up to 2 days or freeze for a month.
