- 2 lbs ground chicken
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- 1 large onion (Diced)
- 1 green bell pepper (Diced)
- 1 red bell pepper (Diced)
- 3 cloves garlic (Minced)
- 2 tbsp Cajun seasoning (Use 2–3 tbsp for stronger flavor)
- 1 can (15 oz) tomato sauce
- 1/2 cup ketchup
- 2 tbsp brown sugar
- 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
- 1 tbsp apple cider vinegar
- Salt & pepper (To taste)
- 8 hamburger buns (Toasted)
- 1/2 cup heavy cream (For creamy version)
- Jalapeños (Extra heat)
- Hot sauce (To taste)
- Celery (Diced)
- Shredded cheese (On top)
Instructions
- Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
- Add the ground chicken and cook for 5–7 minutes, breaking it up as it cooks.
- Drain any excess liquid and season with salt and pepper.
- Add the diced onion, green bell pepper, and red bell pepper to the skillet.
- Cook for about 5 minutes until softened.
- Stir in the minced garlic and cook for an additional 30 seconds.
- Add the Cajun seasoning and stir well.
- Stir in the tomato sauce, ketchup, brown sugar, Worcestershire sauce, and apple cider vinegar.
- Mix everything together thoroughly.
- Reduce the heat to low and let the mixture simmer for about 10 minutes, allowing it to thicken.
- Taste and adjust the seasoning as necessary.
- Remove from heat and let it rest for 5 minutes to thicken further.
- Toast the hamburger buns and spoon the mixture onto each bun.
- Serve warm with optional toppings.
Notes
For a creamier version, stir in heavy cream while simmering. Adjust the Cajun seasoning for a bolder flavor.
