Description

A delicious combination of savory cheesesteak filling and garlicky bread, perfect for sharing.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 large loaf of French bread
  • 1 pound of thinly sliced beef (like ribeye or sirloin)
  • 1 cup of sliced bell peppers (green, red, or yellow)
  • 1 cup of sliced onions
  • 2 cups of provolone or mozzarella cheese
  • 4 tablespoons of butter, melted
  • 4 cloves of garlic, minced
  • Salt and pepper, to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Melt 1 tablespoon of butter in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the onions and bell peppers, cooking until they are soft, about 5-7 minutes.
  3. Add the sliced beef to the skillet. Season with salt and pepper, cooking until the beef is browned, about 5 more minutes.
  4. Mix the remaining melted butter with minced garlic in a small bowl.
  5. Slice the French bread in half lengthwise. Brush the garlic butter mixture evenly over both halves.
  6. Pile the beef and vegetables onto one half of the bread. Sprinkle the cheese on top.
  7. Carefully place the other half of the bread on top. Wrap the stuffed loaf in aluminum foil.
  8. Bake in the preheated oven for 15 minutes. Remove the foil and bake for another 5-10 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
  9. Remove from the oven, let it cool for a few minutes, then slice and serve.

Notes

Serve with marinara sauce for dipping or a fresh salad. Wrap leftovers tightly for storage.
