Description

A traditional Mexican dish featuring crispy tortillas and a vibrant salsa verde, perfect for any meal.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound tomatillos
  • 3 jalapeño peppers
  • 12 corn tortillas
  • 4 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • Cotija cheese (for serving)
  • Chopped cilantro (for serving)

Instructions

  1. Cook tomatillos, jalapeños, and onion in boiling water for 8 minutes; drain.
  2. Blend cooked vegetables with cilantro, garlic, lime juice, and salt until smooth.
  3. Cut corn tortillas into wedges and fry in vegetable oil until crispy.
  4. Toss fried tortillas with salsa verde until evenly coated.
  5. Serve immediately topped with cotija cheese, cilantro, onions, and optional fried eggs.

Notes

Use fresh tomatillos for the best flavor; they should be bright green and firm. Adjust the heat level by modifying the number of jalapeños.
