Description

A rich and indulgent chocolate cake filled with creamy peanut butter frosting, perfect for any celebration or as a sweet treat.


Ingredients

  • 1 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 3/4 cups granulated sugar
  • 3/4 cup cocoa powder
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1 cup boiling water
  • 1 cup creamy peanut butter
  • 4 cups powdered sugar
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1/4 cup milk (for frosting)
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract (for frosting)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans.
  2. Combine the flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt in a large bowl.
  3. Add the eggs, whole milk, vegetable oil, and vanilla extract. Beat on medium speed for 2 minutes.
  4. Stir in the boiling water until well combined.
  5. Pour the batter evenly into the prepared cake pans.
  6. Bake for 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  7. Cool the cakes in the pans for 10 minutes, then onto wire racks.
  8. Prepare the frosting by beating together the peanut butter and softened butter until smooth.
  9. Mix in the powdered sugar and milk until smooth, adding vanilla extract.
  10. Assemble the cake by placing one layer on a plate, frosting it, and adding the second layer on top.
  11. Serve and enjoy!

This cake pairs well with vanilla ice cream or fresh strawberries.
