Description

Delightful cupcakes with a soft, fluffy texture and a sweet cinnamon-sugar flavor, topped with creamy cinnamon frosting.


Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened (for frosting)
  • 2 cups powdered sugar (for frosting)
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract (for frosting)
  • 2 tsp ground cinnamon (for frosting)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a cupcake pan with cupcake liners.
  2. Cream together the softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
  3. Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Stir in the milk and vanilla extract.
  4. Whisk together the flour, baking powder, and cinnamon in another bowl. Gradually add this to the wet mixture and mix until just combined.
  5. Fill each cupcake liner about 2/3 full with the batter and bake for 18-20 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  6. Let cupcakes cool completely on a wire rack.
  7. Beat together the softened butter, powdered sugar, cinnamon, and vanilla extract for the frosting until smooth and creamy.
  8. Frost the cooled cupcakes with the cinnamon buttercream and sprinkle with cinnamon sugar.

Notes

For a rich flavor, you can add chocolate chips to the batter or replace vanilla extract with almond extract.
