Ingredients

- 1 cup water
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter
- 1 tablespoon sugar
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 3 large eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- Sugar for coating
- Cinnamon (optional)
- Chocolate or caramel sauce for dipping (optional)
Instructions
- In a saucepan over medium heat, combine the water, butter, sugar, and salt. Bring the mixture to a boil.
- Remove the saucepan from heat and stir in the flour until it forms a ball.
- Let the dough cool slightly. Then, beat in the eggs one at a time, adding the vanilla extract as you go.
- Heat oil in a deep fryer or a large pot to 375°F (190°C).
- Using a piping bag, pipe small balls of dough into the hot oil.
- Fry the dough until they are golden brown and cooked through.
- Drain the poppers on paper towels. Toss them in a mixture of sugar and cinnamon if you like.
- Serve them warm with chocolate or caramel sauce for dipping.
Notes
Ensure the oil temperature is correct to avoid greasy churros. You can fill them with cream for a fun twist.
