Ingredients
Scale
- 4 medium chicken breasts (6–7 oz each)
- 8 slices Black Forest ham
- 1 1/4 cups freshly shredded Swiss Gruyere cheese
- 1 1/4 cups panko breadcrumbs
- 1/3 cup freshly grated Parmesan cheese
- 2 tablespoons Dijon mustard
- 1 cup heavy cream
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F and prepare a baking sheet with a rack.
- Flatten the chicken breasts to an even thickness of about 1/4 inch.
- Layer two slices of ham and about 1/4 cup of cheese on each breast, then roll tightly and secure with toothpicks.
- To prepare the panko breading, toast the breadcrumbs in a mix of butter and olive oil, then combine them with Parmesan cheese and any preferred spices.
- Coat the chicken rolls in a Dijon mustard wash, then dredge them in the breadcrumb mixture.
- Bake for 30-35 minutes or until the internal temperature reaches 160°F.
- While the chicken bakes, whisk together the heavy cream and seasonings for the sauce; simmer until thickened.
- Let the chicken rest for a few minutes before serving it with the sauce drizzled on top.
Notes
Ensure the chicken breasts are flattened evenly for proper cooking. High-quality cheese enhances flavor.
