Ingredients
Scale
- 3 tablespoons Butter
- 1 medium Onion
- 1 cup Celery
- 2 cloves Garlic
- 1/4 cup Flour
- 4 cups Chicken Broth
- 1 cup Heavy Whipping Cream
- 1 tablespoon Worcestershire Sauce
- 1/2 teaspoon Salt
- 1 cup Uncooked Elbow Macaroni
- 2 cups Sharp Cheddar Cheese
- to taste Pepper
Instructions
- Melt the butter in a large pot over medium heat.
- Add the chopped onion and celery and sauté for about 5 minutes, until soft.
- Stir in the garlic and cook for another minute.
- Sprinkle in the flour and stir well. Cook for about 2 minutes to remove the raw flour taste.
- Gradually add the chicken broth while stirring to prevent lumps. Bring to a simmer.
- Lower the heat and stir in the heavy whipping cream, Worcestershire sauce, and salt.
- Add the uncooked macaroni, and cook until tender, about 8-10 minutes.
- Remove from heat and stir in the sharp cheddar cheese until melted and creamy. Adjust with pepper if desired.
Notes
For extra flavor, try adding cooked bacon or ham when serving. Add a splash of hot sauce for a spicy kick. Use a combination of cheeses for a deeper flavor. For a thicker soup, let it simmer longer after adding cheese.
