Description

A delightful dish that combines the classic flavors of French onion soup with comforting pasta in one pot.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 8 ounces pasta (e.g., fettuccine or penne)
  • 2 large onions, thinly sliced
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 cups beef or vegetable broth
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1 cup grated Gruyère cheese
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Fresh parsley for garnish

Instructions

  1. Heat olive oil in a large pot over medium heat. Add the sliced onions and cook, stirring occasionally, until they are caramelized (about 15-20 minutes).
  2. Add the minced garlic and cook for an additional minute.
  3. Stir in the pasta and broth, then bring to a boil. Reduce heat, cover, and simmer until the pasta is cooked to al dente (about 10-12 minutes).
  4. Once the pasta is cooked, stir in the heavy cream and Gruyère cheese until melted and creamy.
  5. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  6. Serve warm, garnished with fresh parsley.

Notes

For extra flavor, sauté the onions until they’re deeply caramelized. Use quality broth for enhanced taste. Customize with different cheeses if desired.
