Description
A delightful dish that combines the classic flavors of French onion soup with comforting pasta in one pot.
Ingredients
Scale
- 8 ounces pasta (e.g., fettuccine or penne)
- 2 large onions, thinly sliced
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 cups beef or vegetable broth
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 1 cup grated Gruyère cheese
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Fresh parsley for garnish
Instructions
- Heat olive oil in a large pot over medium heat. Add the sliced onions and cook, stirring occasionally, until they are caramelized (about 15-20 minutes).
- Add the minced garlic and cook for an additional minute.
- Stir in the pasta and broth, then bring to a boil. Reduce heat, cover, and simmer until the pasta is cooked to al dente (about 10-12 minutes).
- Once the pasta is cooked, stir in the heavy cream and Gruyère cheese until melted and creamy.
- Season with salt and pepper to taste.
- Serve warm, garnished with fresh parsley.
Notes
For extra flavor, sauté the onions until they’re deeply caramelized. Use quality broth for enhanced taste. Customize with different cheeses if desired.
