Description
Healthy, crispy fries made in the air fryer for a guilt-free snack or side dish.
Ingredients
Scale
- 4 medium russet potatoes, peeled or unpeeled
- 2 tablespoons olive oil (extra virgin or light)
- 1 teaspoon sea salt, plus extra for sprinkling after cooking
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/2 teaspoon paprika
- 1/4 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
- 1 teaspoon dried herbs like rosemary or thyme (optional)
- Cold water (enough to soak the potatoes)
Instructions
- Rinse and peel (if desired) the russet potatoes. Slice them into even sticks about 1/4 inch (6 mm) thick.
- Place sliced potatoes in a large bowl and cover with cold water. Let them soak for at least 30 minutes to remove excess starch.
- Drain the soaked fries and lay them out on clean kitchen towels or paper towels. Pat them dry thoroughly.
- Toss the dried fries with olive oil, sea salt, garlic powder, paprika, and black pepper until evenly coated.
- Preheat the air fryer to 380°F (193°C) for about 3 minutes.
- Spread fries in a single layer in the air fryer basket, avoiding overcrowding. Cook for 15-20 minutes, shaking the basket or flipping fries halfway through for even cooking.
- Once cooked, immediately sprinkle extra sea salt before serving.
Notes
Soaking the potatoes is key for achieving a great crunch. Don’t overcrowd the air fryer for even cooking.
