Description
Simple and rewarding Dutch oven no knead crusty bread that is soft and chewy inside with a beautiful crust outside.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 1/2 cups warm water (about 100°F)
- 1 packet active dry yeast (2.25 teaspoons)
- 1 ½ teaspoons fine grain salt
- 3 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
Instructions
- Combine warm water, yeast, and salt in a large bowl until dissolved.
- Add the flour all at once and mix until a sticky dough forms.
- Cover the bowl with a kitchen towel and let it rise in a warm place for about 120-180 minutes or until doubled in size.
- Preheat your oven to 450°F with the Dutch oven inside for at least 30 minutes.
- Shape the dough on floured parchment paper and transfer it to the heated Dutch oven.
- Bake covered for 35-40 minutes; then uncover and bake for an additional 5-10 minutes until golden brown.
- Cool on a rack for at least 10 minutes before slicing.
Notes
Use a kitchen scale for more accurate measurements. Make sure your water is warm but not hot to avoid killing the yeast. For richer flavor, let the dough rise in the fridge overnight.
