A simple yet delicious rice dish featuring mixed vegetables and butter, perfect as a side or main dish.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup of rice
  • 2 cups of water
  • 1 teaspoon of salt
  • 1 tablespoon of butter
  • 1 cup of mixed vegetables (like peas, carrots, and corn)
  • 1/2 teaspoon of garlic powder
  • Black pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Rinse the rice under cold water until the water runs clear.
  2. Bring 2 cups of water to a boil in a medium-sized pot.
  3. Add the rice and salt to the pot, then stir in the butter.
  4. Lower the heat and cover the pot. Let it simmer for about 15 minutes, or until the water is absorbed.
  5. Add the mixed vegetables and garlic powder to the pot in the last 5 minutes of cooking. Cover and let them steam with the rice.
  6. Remove from heat and let it sit covered for another 5 minutes.
  7. Fluff the rice with a fork and season with black pepper to taste. Serve warm.
