Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans.
- Sift together flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt in a large mixing bowl.
- Mix buttermilk, vegetable oil, eggs, and vanilla until well combined in another bowl.
- Gradually add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients, mixing until smooth.
- Carefully stir in the boiling water until the batter is well combined and smooth.
- Gently fold in the fresh blackberries.
- Pour the batter evenly into the prepared pans and bake for 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
- Allow the cakes to cool in the pans for 10 minutes, then turn them out onto wire racks to cool completely.
- Layer the cakes with buttercream frosting and decorate the top with additional blackberries.
