Description
This homemade pizza sauce is easy to make, fresher, and tastier than store-bought versions. Adjust the spices to suit your taste!

- 1 can (15 oz) tomato sauce
- 1 can (6 oz) tomato paste
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tsp dried oregano
- 1 tsp dried basil
- ½ tsp onion powder
- ½ tsp salt (or to taste)
- ½ tsp sugar
- ¼ tsp crushed red pepper flakes (optional)
- ¼ tsp black pepper
- ½ tsp balsamic vinegar (optional)
Instructions
- Heat the olive oil in a medium saucepan over medium heat.
- Add the minced garlic and sauté for about 1 minute, or until fragrant.
- Stir in the tomato sauce and tomato paste, mixing well.
- Add the dried oregano, dried basil, onion powder, salt, sugar, crushed red pepper flakes, black pepper, and balsamic vinegar if using.
- Simmer the sauce for 15-20 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- Taste and adjust the seasoning if necessary.
Notes
Feel free to experiment with herbs and spices. For a richer sauce, use fire-roasted tomatoes instead of regular tomato sauce.
