Description

Crispy, flavorful German potato pancakes, perfect for breakfast, snack or as a side dish.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 large potatoes
  • 1 small onion
  • 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 large egg
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Oil for frying
  • Sour cream or applesauce (for serving)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the vegetables: Peel and grate the potatoes and onion.
  2. Combine the grated potatoes and onion with the flour, egg, salt, and pepper until well mixed.
  3. Heat a generous amount of oil in a frying pan over medium heat.
  4. Fry the pancakes by dropping spoonfuls of the mixture into the hot oil, flattening them slightly.
  5. Achieve golden perfection by frying for about 3-4 minutes on each side.
  6. Drain the pancakes on paper towels to keep them crispy.
  7. Serve hot with sour cream or applesauce.

Notes

For extra flavor, consider adding minced garlic or smoked paprika.
