- 1 package of phyllo dough
- 1 lb ground meat (beef, lamb, or a mixture)
- 1 onion, finely chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 cup spinach, chopped
- 1 tsp cumin
- 1 tsp paprika
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 1/2 cup olive oil
- 1/2 cup feta cheese, crumbled (optional)
- 1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Heat olive oil over medium heat in a skillet.
- Add the chopped onions and minced garlic; sauté until soft, about 3-4 minutes.
- Cook the ground meat with cumin, paprika, salt, and pepper until browned, about 5-7 minutes.
- Stir in the chopped spinach and optional feta cheese; cook until spinach wilts, about 2 minutes.
- Lay phyllo sheets on a flat surface, brushing each sheet lightly with olive oil.
- Place a portion of the meat mixture on one end of phyllo and roll tightly, tucking in edges.
- Transfer the rolled pie seam-side down to a greased baking dish; brush the top with beaten egg.
- Bake for 30-40 minutes until golden and crispy.
- Serve hot with a fresh salad or yogurt sauce.
Notes
Optional: Add fresh herbs or spices to enhance flavor. Can be made vegetarian by substituting meat with chickpeas or lentils.
