Description

A simple yet flavorful ciabatta bread recipe that transforms basic ingredients into a delightful loaf, perfect for sandwiches or alongside soups.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons salt
  • 1 teaspoon instant yeast
  • 1 3/4 cups water
  • Olive oil (for greasing)

Instructions

  1. Combine the flour, salt, and instant yeast in a large bowl.
  2. Pour in the water and stir until a wet, sticky dough forms.
  3. Cover the bowl tightly with plastic wrap and let it rise at room temperature for at least 12 hours.
  4. Flour your work surface generously after the dough has risen.
  5. Turn the dough onto the floured surface and shape it into a rectangle, folding it a few times.
  6. Cut the dough into pieces using a sharp knife or bench scraper.
  7. Place the pieces on a greased baking tray and allow to rise for another hour, covered with a damp cloth.
  8. Preheat your oven to 450°F (230°C).
  9. Bake the dough for 25-30 minutes until golden brown and crispy.
  10. Cool on a wire rack before slicing.

Notes

Store ciabatta wrapped in a clean cloth or paper bag for 2-3 days or freeze for up to 3 months. Revive in the oven or toaster.
