Delightful homemade Twinkies that are soft, creamy, and satisfyingly sweet, perfect for sharing with family and friends.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1.5 teaspoons baking powder
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 3/4 cup granulated sugar
- 3 large eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/2 cup milk
- 2 cups powdered sugar
- 1 cup heavy cream
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a Twinkie pan or use a muffin tin.
- Mix the flour, baking powder, and salt together. Set this mixture aside.
- Beat the softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
- Add the eggs one at a time to the butter mixture, beating well after each addition. Then mix in the vanilla extract.
- Gradually add the dry flour mixture to the wet ingredients, alternating with the milk. Beginning and ending with the flour mixture. Mix until just combined.
- Spoon the batter into the prepared pan, filling each cavity about two-thirds full.
- Bake for 15-20 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean. Let them cool in the pan for a few minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.
- Whip the heavy cream until soft peaks form in a fresh bowl. Gradually add the powdered sugar and continue to whip until stiff peaks form.
- Create holes in each Twinkie using a skewer or piping bag. Fill each with whipped cream until you see it overflow slightly.
