Description

A delightful vanilla cake topped with rich chocolate fudge, perfect for any occasion.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 crust pie crust (store-bought or homemade)
  • 1.5 ounces unsweetened chocolate
  • 0.75 cup granulated sugar
  • 0.5 cup unsalted butter
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour (can substitute with gluten-free flour)
  • 0.5 teaspoon baking powder
  • 0.25 teaspoon salt
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 cup milk
  • 0.5 cup chopped walnuts (for crunch; substitute with pecans or omit)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Prepare the pie crust by fitting it into a pie dish.
  3. Melt the unsweetened chocolate in a small bowl using a microwave or a double boiler, stirring until smooth.
  4. Cream the granulated sugar and unsalted butter together in a larger bowl until light and fluffy.
  5. Add the melted chocolate and vanilla extract to the creamed mixture, mixing well.
  6. Beat in the egg until combined.
  7. Mix the all-purpose flour, baking powder, and salt in another bowl. Gradually add this to the chocolate mixture.
  8. Pour in the milk and stir until everything is just mixed. Don’t overmix!
  9. Gently fold in the chopped walnuts.
  10. Pour the batter into the prepared pie crust.
  11. Bake for about 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  12. Allow to cool before slicing and serving.

Notes

Serve at room temperature or slightly warm, with ice cream or whipped cream for extra sweetness.
