- 1.5 ounces unsweetened chocolate
- 0.75 cup granulated sugar
- 0.5 cup unsalted butter
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 cup all-purpose flour (can substitute with gluten-free flour)
- 0.5 teaspoon baking powder
- 0.25 teaspoon salt
- 1 large egg
- 1 cup milk
- 0.5 cup chopped walnuts (for crunch; substitute with pecans or omit)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Prepare the pie crust by fitting it into a pie dish.
- Melt the unsweetened chocolate in a small bowl using a microwave or a double boiler, stirring until smooth.
- Cream the granulated sugar and unsalted butter together in a larger bowl until light and fluffy.
- Add the melted chocolate and vanilla extract to the creamed mixture, mixing well.
- Beat in the egg until combined.
- Mix the all-purpose flour, baking powder, and salt in another bowl. Gradually add this to the chocolate mixture.
- Pour in the milk and stir until everything is just mixed. Don’t overmix!
- Gently fold in the chopped walnuts.
- Pour the batter into the prepared pie crust.
- Bake for about 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
- Allow to cool before slicing and serving.

Serve at room temperature or slightly warm, with ice cream or whipped cream for extra sweetness.
