Description

Soft, fluffy cinnamon rolls with a rich cinnamon flavor, perfect for breakfast or as a sweet snack.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 packet (2 1/4 teaspoons) active dry yeast
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 1 cup powdered sugar (for icing)
  • 2 tablespoons milk (for icing)
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract (for icing)

Instructions

  1. Activate the yeast: In a small bowl, combine the warm milk and yeast. Let it sit for 5-10 minutes until frothy.
  2. Mix the wet ingredients: In a large mixing bowl, combine melted butter, sugar, eggs, and the yeast mixture. Mix until well combined.
  3. Add the dry ingredients: Gradually add flour and salt to the wet mixture. Stir until a dough begins to form.
  4. Knead the dough: Transfer the dough to a floured surface and knead for about 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  5. First rise: Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a clean towel, and let it rise in a warm area for about 1 hour or until it doubles in size.
  6. Prepare the filling: In a small bowl, mix together the brown sugar and ground cinnamon.
  7. Roll out the dough: Once the dough has risen, punch it down and roll it out into a rectangle (about 1/4 inch thick).
  8. Spread butter: Brush the rolled-out dough with melted butter, ensuring it is evenly covered.
  9. Add the filling: Sprinkle the cinnamon-sugar mixture evenly over the buttered dough.
  10. Roll up: Starting from one long side, carefully roll the dough into a tight log. Pinch the seam to seal.
  11. Cut the rolls: Slice the log into 12 equal pieces and place them in a greased baking dish.
  12. Second rise: Cover the rolls with a towel and let them rise for another 30 minutes until puffy.
  13. Preheat the oven: While the rolls are rising, preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  14. Bake: Bake the rolls for 25-30 minutes or until golden brown.
  15. Cool: Remove from the oven and let them cool for 10-15 minutes.
  16. Prepare the icing: In a small bowl, whisk together powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla extract until smooth.
  17. Drizzle icing: Drizzle the icing over the warm cinnamon rolls before serving.

Notes
